Survivor Circle for Female Survivors
This ten-week online circle program is for female survivors of child sexual abuse. Due to the fact that most survivors are not visible in our day to day lives, we (survivors) often can feel like we are the only one struggling and let's face it, it can feel like a very lonely journey. Survivors gain incredible comfort from knowing that others experience similar struggles and also feel alone. This program is designed to offer a safe place for survivors to connect, feel seen and be held in a confidential and well-boundaried community.
As a survivor, I know what it feels like to be part of a group that does not feel safe. With a background as a mental health counselor, I lay out clear agreements and boundaries that must be upheld by each member of the circle. There is a screening process for each member to sign up for and join the program. The screening process requires each survivor to have either had enough prior or existing therapy or counseling in place. Although it is necessary for survivors to share details of abuse in one-on one therapy sessions, all participants must agree to not share specific details of their abuse in the circle space as this can be retraumatizing for other survivors. This is very, very important. The sharing in the circle is optional, structured and timed, so that each participant is equally witnessed and heard as they so desire, and to ensure hat one individual does not dominate the sharing time.

"Connection is why we're here. We are hardwired to connect with others, it's what gives purpose and meaning to our lives, and without it there is suffering." ~ Brene Brown
